I just bought a bike from from a sales LADY who was just the opposite. She knew the product, could answer my questions and offer sensible advice. She, of course, rides a Harley (Heritage if I recall). According to her bio she has a degree in engineering. I couldn't help but notice she also had lots of tats!!

DISCLAIMER: I COULD BE WRONG ON THE INFO THAT I AM PASSING ALONG IN MY REPLY
I know that you are looking for an Ultra, as far as I know the new tubeless Chrome Profile laced (spoke) wheels are available for all touring models except the Electra Glide Ultra Limited; so, as long as you are not looking for a Limited; it is doable.

Ever wonder why they put stickers on food in the grocery store, the answer goes back to this thread!

Yeah, you're right about that. When I ordered my Mustang I had to explain all the new options and colors to the salesman and help him fill the order form out for it. No biggie, he hadn't spent hours poring over all the new info like I had and he was very polite and interested in the info I was offering. Now if a salesman is rude about it then it's worth ranting about, and if I read the OP correctly the salesman was trying to insist that what he was looking for was not available even though he was telling him that it was. That's the difference. A salesman who is willing to learn from a customer is always more pleasant to deal with than one who thinks he knows more/ better than the customer.

I have made a living for the past 40 years as a Salesman. A very very good living with a 6 figure annual income in every one of those years. I think I am pretty good at it. I will NEVER tell any customer that I know everything about what I sell or the competition. I tell them I will FIND them the answer. Not all sales people are stupid.

For example, he now knows about the tubeless wire wheels b/c of you. We are all gear-heads, we live and breathe this stuff, analyze and study this stuff, and that's even b4 we get serious and think about buying something. Salesmen rarely are gear-heads. They are salesmen and they don't much care if they are selling a bike, a car, a TV, or washer and dryers. If you ever meet a salesman that knows more than you THAT is when you post on a forum b/c he is the exception to the rule. 'Course you'd run the risk of a forum member calling you a dumba$$ for knowing less than a brain-dead salesman.
That may be true of car salesmen and bike salesmen, but not salesmen in general. Pride in doing your job well has not died. I research subjects that are relevant to my industry in my off hours and you can bet your *** I know more about my product, past, present and future than my customers do. And as far as models and factory options, there are twice as many. Lazy salesmen who are uninformed about the products they sell are lazy. It has nothing to do with the lack of factory training. The factory isn't training the customers that know more are they?

Typically, by the time I hit the dealer, I've done about a weeks worth of research on the subject and know it inside and out. Of course he can't be expected to know as much about any individual subject, but he better know a little bit about everything.

It ought to be pretty easy to know the product line since there are only about 6 factory options available on new Harleys.
