I found it to be louder then my stock horn. Don't shoot the messenger!!!!!

My advice if your not happy is to buy the high tone horn and a relay and run them together. Still cheaper then an air horn and louder at 264 db's. The high tone horn can be mounted on your saddlebag bracket behind the bag out of site. The horn comes with a flat bracket which can be mounted at the rear of the saddlebag one of the several round holes that are in the bracket already.

Like I said, I'm running an air horn too but can clearly hear the low tone Freeway Blaster over the air horn.

I just got mine installed. I'm not impressed with the volume. It's maybe a little louder than the stock horn but only a little. Well....at least it wasn't very expensive.

BTW...one of the previous posters suggested hooking up 2 horns to get 264db. If it were possible to get that kind of volume, it would be sufficient to literally kill someone. The db scale is logarithmic....an increase of 3db amounts to doubling the sound level. 264db would be louder than a nuclear explosion. I bet that would get the soccer-mom-on-cellphone's attention.

um - you don't add dB to get a total sound of 2 horns generating 132dB. Two horns at the same sound level will generate 2 or 3 dB more total sound, maybe - under the ideal circumstances.

264dB, if you could generate it (you can't) would strip your flesh from your bones.

ps - I'm an acoustical engineer . . . don't argue with me on this one.

Being a railroader I have handled locomotive air horns. They are about 3 feet long, might be a tuff mount on the bike, let alone the air supply needed.....

So, I'm looking to replace the stock horn on my 2009 Road King. It hasn't worked in a while and I have had cause to sound my horn (haven't we all). The Amazon web page has a "parts finder" applet that says this horn does not fit the 2009 Road King FLHR/I. I thought I saw a couple of Road Kings in the discussion, so I'm wondering if anyone has installed one of these on a King and not had to do any "modifications". I'm somewhat skeptical of the applet as it says this horn does not work on a lot of bikes.

Update - got the horn installed yesterday (5/25) - no mods or otherwise any problems (took longer to put the bike on the pitbull). As for sound level, it does sound slightly louder than a stock horn but not by much (my observation). I have the standard cowbell cover and the horn does take more room than the stock, but it fit. For $10, it's a good deal for me as my original horn had quit working.

I thought I was helping out with a cheap upgrade to the stock horn but again, I should have kept my mouth shut!!

If you can pick up a cheap self-contained air horn and mount it on your saddlebag bracket, that along with the Freeway Blaster should fill your needs. Total price with air horn, relay, wire, zip ties and the Blaster should be under $80.

That way you have a horn on both sides of your bike that will rattle your teeth when you push the horn button.

As far as total decibels, I'm a retired cop not an acoustical engineer, so I can only make assumptions and wild estimates. All I can say is, if the air horn puts out a claimed 139db and the Freeway Blaster puts out a claimed 132db, exactly what's the total output together of both horns???

Ordered mine. Heck, for 10 bucks, I can always ebay it if I don't like it.
