Why not a 10, they solved the transmission gearing issues, or 11 103 motor standard. BTW your year model changes are off a bit. Cruise has been available for a long time and I have it on my 07, it was also available on the 06 models.
1. 07 96 ci motor, 6 speed transmission
2. 08 Brembo brakes, ABS & new motor mount to allow for the larger gas tank.
3. 09 New frame, wider tire, rerouted exhaust
4. 10 transmission gear ratio changed to be better
5. 2011 (or is it 2012, I forget) 103 motors standard.
6. 2013 ...

For 2012 the 103 motors are standard. 2011 had it as an option - 103 power pack.

Umm No. Counter steering only leans the bike in the direction of the turn, it doesn't hold the wheel in the opposite direction through the turn. The lights will be different.

However, if this were such and issue, maybe we shouldn't be driving our cars.

My '01 FLHT never wobbled either and was in great shape; however, the new 09 frame is like a night and day change by comparison. I too thought the new frame comments bordered on hype until I finally rode one. Coming through the mountains between Idaho and Montana this weekend was a totally different experience.

Couldn't tell you on performance between the two, but in you'll get a different answer from anyone. I'd try and ride both if you can, then get whichever one you prefer. In the end it's your bike and you may like something that someone else says is a negative. You never know

According toMr. Bill Wright 2009 Touring Platform Project Lead and Staff Engineer, the frame changes including reducing the parts from 90 to 40, increasing the width and stiffness of the swing arm, adding an additional front motor mount for a total of two, using a new triple clamp, increasing the front tire to 17" and increasing the width of the rear wheel size to 5" and the tire to 180mm, was the biggest undertaking since the creation of the platform. He also made a small change to the steering geometry. My notes on our conversation indicate that Harley project team engineers interviewed touring bike riders and weighed bikes at various events and shows start with the 2003 100th Anniversary. As a result, Mr. Wright concluded that a much more robust frame was needed for the touring Harleys. As I said before, do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Mr. Bill Wright may still be employed at the HD factory and available for conversations.

The wheel is pointed in the opposite direction of the turn. Watch MotoGP sometime and pay attention to their front wheels.
Anyway, has nothing to do with the headlights on the RG vs SG. As someone said, this is either pointed out through stupidity or as a joke.

BTW, cruise has been available for many years. It came as standard on my 04 RG, then they made it an option.

I don’t need to watch motoGP, I have my own motorcycle. I know Counter Steering is confusing, but in the laws of physics, it can be counted on that the bike will go where the front wheel is pointed. Counter steering initically turns the wheel the opposite of a turn, but only long enough to "lean" the bike into the turn. Once the bike starts to lean, the rider must turn the wheel back into the turn to stop the bike from leaning into the ground and also to turn. If the rider wants to turn left, the front wheel MUST eventually turn left so the bike will follow.

I am not sure what the joke is, but the light on the SG will point a different direction than the RG.

I have only ridden a SG once, but owned a FLHTCU for 5 years. Traded last week for a new RG, and I would say the RG for sure. It does cut through the wind better.
