I took my seat down to the local leather uphoistery shop and had high density foam installed, they took out 3/4 inch white cheap foam which I saved to show all my harley friends what they are sitting on. I went for a 8 1/2 hour 370 mile ride and the seat was great. The price for the new foam and installation was just over a 100 dollars. The only change was the seat was a little bit higher , about 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch and the leather strap that goes around the seat will not fit but I never use it any how. So don't spend all that money to change your seat good foam makes all the difference in the world.
I have a Limited also. I'm using one of those Harley air circulator pads. It helps, and I don't mind being just a little "taller" with it, but I'd consider new foam. I ride solo about 99.9% of the time. Think a good upholsterer can do just the driver seat? How long did they have it? Does the seat look like it's been worked on, or still like new?
Exactly why a huge # of rider/owners send their seats to Mean City Cycles (MCC) for a mod...less than 1/2 price of new replacement & X1000 comfier than stock...
Geezr,
Do not pay 100 $ to ship your seat to anyone, all they all do is replace the cheap foam with high density foam, the seat looks great and you will not believe the difference it makes. Any good leather uphositery shop will make your seat great. The cheap foam that your sitting on is the only thing wrong with your seat.
I did the same as MJ,except i had them put gel in also 500 mile days no problem, local shop cost $150 memory foam/gel pad, seat looks factory and no height change...........
