I am not critising anyone for their freedom of choice but, unlike cars/trucks where your friends and nieghbors quicklynotice you, the new car smell, new styling etc, etc, why do people upgrade so oftento a new HD when you get none of this. The reason I ask this is a friend of mine has an Ultra that I think is an '05' and now wants an '07'. He has spent a fortune on the '05', such as 95" andmanybolt-ons, pipes, chrome etc thatmost would go with the bike at trade-in.He states that if a dealer would trade for $8000.00 difference,he would do it, but sofar the dealer won't. That isa lot of depreciation per year and a very expensive warranty, hope he didn't stoop over and get an extended one (warranty that is).
Unlike him, I have spent so much time and money setting up my '01' just the way I want it, got the bugs worked out and cando anything I want to it without the worry of voiding my warranty, and it looks like an '07'. If needed, Ican take it to the bestmechanic's shop in the areaif not a dealer, etc. After riding with him and so many others with newer bikes, seems likethier bikesare always in the shop for something warranty related. Whatever the dealers are doing, they are doing it right, at least for themselves. Have fun withyour new or old bikes.
Different strokes for different folks...that's what makes the world go round. Everybody's different, some like having their bikes for years, others want a new one every year and lots in between. I'm sure every year I'll be going through the "keep her/get a new one" debate. The only constant is knowing what side of the argument wy wife will be on....
Dunno why people do what they do.
A buddy traded his 03 Roadking for an 06 Streetglide which he then traded for an 07 Roadking. But what he really wants is his 03 Roadking back.
A major portion of the US economy depends on people doing like he did.
My 2007 Street Glide had the "new" smell for about a month. Not that I cared, but it was kinda neat. I wanted something more reliable. My 1998 FLHPI was fun, but I also wanted a radio, cruise and alot more power. So here I am.[sm=wootwoot.gif]

Your friend should go to another dealer this ones trying to screw him on the trade even with high milage the low end should be around 12,000 to 13,000 for an 05 Ultra.

I agree with Lunchboxjunkie, your friends dealer is trying to put the screws to him and I mean bad. If he wants the 07 then he needs to shop around. As far as wanting to upgrade, who knows? The best thing to do is to ask him, he's the only one with the answer...[sm=confused06.gif]
