There seems to be a lot of talk about half helmets lately and I'm sure the warm weather has something to do with it along with more strict helmet laws coming our way. I posted about my new purchase in another section of this forum and thought I would share it in the Touring Models Section.
I ordered and just received the Outlaw Ultra Low Profile Matte Carbon-Fiber #AX30030 DOT helmet from Leatherup.com and it's really small in size. My head just above my eyebrows measures 22 5/8 inches. I ordered a size medium and it fits great! If any of you guys have been looking for a DOT half helmet that doesn't give you the "mushroom" effect you should check one of these out.
BTW, I'm not affiliated with Outlaw Helmets or Leatherup.com, I'm just a rider that wants to share my findings. It's cool looking, comfortable and is a DOT helmet.
Here are some pics to show you guys how it sits and fits. The first three are without the included visor installed and the last three are with it installed. I have several half helmets including Vega, Daytona, etc... and this one looks sits lower and is more like a novelty helmet than all the others that I own. Hope this helps!
I really appreciate you posting pics of the lid on your head. So many helmet reviews give detailed descriptions of helmets but they never put the damn thing on.
I am going to start to wear a helmet, alot of posts on here and my daughters keep on me. I think it would be a wise decision. No helmet law in PA. We are free to choose.
I ordered one a couple weeks ago. Have a rather large melon but the leatherup.com size chart said the 2XL would fit. Size chart is WAY off. What was suppossed to be a 2XL fit like a medium; had to send it back for a refund. Disappointed, because I loved the look of the helmet.
I have a "Trooper" half-helmet I got from my H-D dealer around 10 years ago. It is similar but has a small visor (non-removable) and no carbon fiber. It's DOT of course.
I have the identical helmet, It's very light and cuts down on the buffeting you can get with bigger, heavier helmets. If you have to wear a DOT...It's the best I've found so far.
