Ok, I purchased and installed the RF PBR300x2 and Polk MM651 speakers in my Streetglide. I think my expectations were a little high based on the reviews of the forum members. I'm certainly happy with it, I purchased the setup so I could hear tunes at 70mph, and that is achieved. Probably need to do a little more adjusting to get it "just so". FYI, here are my settings: high pass, gain set at about 5, freq set at about 75-100, high input (no RCA).
Anyway.......
In Myrtle Beach and a gentleman selling Hog Tunes indicated that there are obvious limitations with the charging/electrical system on bikes. He indicated that a 300 watt RF amplifier would most likely damage the stator. Has anyone that installed this amp had power draw issues? Is this a valid concern with the RF amp? Why/why not? Also, why does the Hog Tunes amp run so much cooler than the RF?
Power draw is like this watts/volts=amps. Not sure of the amperage of the stock stator for your ride, but you can figure it from there. If you draw more amps then your stator can produce, it will constnaly run at full blast, and will not last long because of the heat it is producing. If you draw more amps then the stator can produce, then your battery will not last very long either. The FL's have a heavy duty charging system and are desgned for a few accesories, but not sure exactly how much.
As far as the hog tunes running cooler, wattage is actally a heat rating more then anything else. Lower wattage=less heat. Decibels is the measurement for volume.
I was told that our Harley's are capable of 50 amps, and it uses 25 amps, so they have 25 available. Based on your equation jcb... 300 watt amp/12 volts= 25 amps. So maybe I should be concerned? How consistently would the amp be putting out 300 watts? Ever? Sorry for my ignorance.
I run 2 of the Alpine PDX 4.150 amps. They push 1200 watts. I've never had a problem with the stock charging system, so I'll assume that 300 watt RF will be just fine . ; )

...sounds like another marketing pitch from a hog tunes salesman...i have not noticed any power draw issues...once in awhile, i look at the volt meter...it's always at 13 - 14V...i have a similar setup, except that my settings are AP, Gain - 4. what's the hog tunes at 160 amp or so, almost half of the PBR?
I just had to have my stator, regulator and battery replaced due to power draw. We were able to trace down the power draw to the HOG tunes AMP. Once we disconntected the AMP the draw on the line dropped to below 30amps from 48. I am calling Hogtunes in the morning to figure out what was is happening but at this point it appears to be a run away amp. The 103 motors have a 50amp stator...
