Anyone know if the Ipod software update only works for Ipods or will it work to control other Mp3 Players?
if you are asking if it will work with other apple mp3 players, the answer is yes. if other brand mp3 players, nope.
the ipod controller will work with just about any apple product (the shuffle being an obvious exception). it has to have the 30 pin connector. it will work with your iphone, ipod classic (not recommended because it has a mechanical hard drive), nano, probably even ipad, though i've not tested that one

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. I have different Mp3 players but none are apple. I've away purchased good ones that aren't as fancy, usually with more storage for less. Never thought it would effect a feature on my bike. ugh. Maybe one of the smaller ones are in my future. Or I just keep connecting my current Android phone up via the aux. port.
Candubrain, One of the updates addresses a problem with the VOX on newer bikes, one addressed the radio time issue, and a couple other little things. It's hard to keep up with what each one did, I used to know, and I think I posted a reply once that told, but it slips me now. Usually if you are not experiencing any problem with your radio or its functions, and you have a version within 2 or 3 updates, then it's not worth worrying about.
Nut08, I am not sure if I am confused (which is likely) or maybe there is a misunderstanding, but just to clarify. The update you are asking about can only be installed if you have the iPod module, it actually updates the module itself, so unless you have this module, you can not install the update because the radio will not recognize the update.

or if you know someone with an old iphone 3, you could use that as an ipod.

You aren't confused....I actually didn't take notice to the needed module till I was looking at it yesterday, so even if somehow it would have worked with Android or another Mp3 I was SOL. no wonder guys just get new head units.
Have you checked your service order? I would think that whatever they updated would have to appear on your invoice in order for the dealer to get paid by the Motor Company.
In the past there have been updates to the ECM for things like ABS calibration and updates to the HK for things like clock speed and volume.

there's nothing on it except the recall work for the rear brake switch.
I don't know if it a coincidence but some times the bike just rolls over without catching. I have to stop cranking, and let the fuel pressurize a 2nd time then it starts. It never did that before
