I have a 09 Ultra Classic and I'm thinking about getting a 2012 Road Glide Ultra ,, I talk to a guy today that has both ,,He told me his lady WILL NOT RIDE on the Road Glide ,, He said the wind on the Road Glod Beats Her to death, but she will ride all day on the Ultra Classic
So does anybody have the same problem , and if so how did you fix it ???
Have a 2011 RGU, and my wife loves it! Could be because I have a Clearview XL windshield, keeps the air off both of us. A George Anderson tour pak extender is a great idea also.
Bottom line, the stock shield on the RGU sucks. There are many great replacement options out there, search this site and you'll find lots to read. Good luck, ride safe!
...He said the wind on the Road Glod Beats Her to death,
........ i've heard of that. ......but since i never sit in the back, i'm unaware if there's an issue,
............. and the GF's never said anything ......
..... i'm running Harley's old 'flamed' tall windshield ........ i'd think a taller recurve would really help on the newer MY's
I've tried a half dozen windshields before settling on a Clearview SM, and the wife hasn't complained with any of them. If she wouldn't ride on the back of the Road Glide, she'd be spending a lot more weekend time without me.
My wife doesn't complain about any 'wind problems' back there....
I'm running a 10" after market shield w/out any recurve....
It may be the wind that comes around the fairing, and not over
the windshield that is bothering her.

My wife made me get rid of my 2011 RGU and go back to the Batwing because of the wind! Higher or lower windshield nothing worked.
I went with my Ultra Limited over the RGU for this very reason. I wanted a two up tourer and the RGU had horrible buffeting issues in stock trim. I did a lot of research and some say it could be fixed with a combination of shields/wings etc, but it seemed like what worked for some, didn't work for others. Others said they tried everything and nothing worked, etc. That got me to thinking, even if i found something that worked for me, would it still take care of the problem for her sitting behind me and how many setups will it take to find the right one. In the end, the batwing just didn't have the issue to begin with, so I figured that was the way to go for us. Not busting on the RG in anyway. It would have been my choice otherwise.

We can bust on Harley, though! Why build a 'touring' bike where in stock trim it's miserable in the passenger seat for everyone except for maybe one of Snow Whites companions? I guess 'cool looks' trumps functionality, ala the SG trim piece, uh, I mean windshield. I guess it does force people to 'upgrade', though. Went with the UL for the same reason. OL went with me on a RGU test ride and said 'over my dead...etc...', and I'm toning down her comments some!!
You may have some wind hit you?? I see all the posts of a similar nature and have to wonder why some on here even ride? If you don't want the wind in your face get in a cage!!!

We have to wear helmets here. The buffeting, especially with a helmet, makes for an uncomfortable ride over distance at highway speeds. If that hasn't been your experience, or you enjoy it, then good for you. I (we) don't.
