Throttle Cable Adjustment
I have just installed +8 throttle cables on a 07 FLHX w/o CC, but the cable has the wires attached, and when trying to adjust the throttle cable up against the stop, I ran out of cable adjustment before the cam came into contact with the stop as stated in the book, but the book doesnt say anything about how to correct it. Does anyone have a suggestion of what I may have missed?
Thanks in advance

The cable with the wires is the the idle cable. If you don't have CC be sure you can use the same cable. I am sure you paid more for the CC cable than you needed to pay. I would think it would still adjust out though. I have not ever installed them in oposing positions so I don't know if that will affect the adjustment.
If you're running out of adjustment before the throttle wheel hits the stop, you might have the wrong cable. First thing to check is that you've got the idle and throttle cables correct. If one of the cables has a switch housing on it, that's the idle cable.
Your throttle cable is the one closest to the front of the bike, looking at the handlebars. The idle cable is the rear-set one.
Pull back the rubber boots, and loosen the jam nuts. Back the adjusters out all the way (full slack) on both cables. With the handlebars straight ahead, turn the grip to open the throttle all the way, and hold it open. Then turn the cable adjuster to take the slack out of the throttle cable, and until the throttle wheel (on the throttle body) just hits the stop. Add another turn to the adjuster, and lock it down with the jam nut.
Then turn your bars all the way to the right, and take the slack out of the idle cable with the adjuster. What you want is for the cable housing to just contact the spring that's inside the cable guide on the throttle body housing. If the throttle returns to idle smoothly, tighten the jam nut down. You can play around with the adjuster a turn or so either way to get the best response. Cover the adjusters with the boots, reinstall the air cleaner and go for a ride.
If you've done all that, and you still can't adjust the slack out of the cable, you might have the wrong ones for your bike.

Thats what I was thinking but I ordered the same Barnett cable that came off but +8 instead of +12. This is on my sons bike, I hate this aftermarket crap that dont fit right.
But I adjusted it the best it can be and drove it and the bike seems to be ok. What could the results be not getting full throttle?

Boogaloodude. Im starting to think it maybe the wrong cables, you cant mix up the cables because of the spring and different diameters going into the switch housing

You need to know three things: Housing length, the angle at the grip end (90*, 70*, or 45*) and travel length of the cable. Your bike needs cables with a travel length of 5.06" (per the HD accessories catalog). Even if you get the correct housing length, if you have the wrong travel, you'll have fitment problems.
Thanks for the info. Long story short my kid bought an 07 Streetglide with 16" apes with Barnett cables, I had the receipt from the guy with the cables he installed. So now I put 12" Yaffes on it and ordered the same cables except in +8 as recommended by Yaffee. I will look out for travel length.
