Default Motor Mounts

Let's say your motor mounts are bad. There is excessive vibration on the floor boards and your butt and lower back hurts after about 30 minutes on the bike. Would this change the sound of your exaust also? Has anyone had this issue before. I have a 06 RKC and the first 2,500 miles were great then things went south. I am worried that the bike has issues. Harley said the bike was at specs. I dont think so! Can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks

I lost three fairing brackets, one at 5000 miles and the other two just last week at 7500 miles. '06 Streetglide. I pulled the fairing and saw that one of the brackets was missing and the other was broken. Turned out that the front motor mount was shot and caused the bracket to break. May have been that way early in the bikes' history and it wasn't picked up during routine servicing.

I was able to stay on the bike for several hours before it finally went. You should get yours checked out, it sounds like you're in worse shape than I was.

Will ditto what bluesgub said.I replaced the front motor mount on the Ultra in July '06. The vibration gave it away for me......went from great ride to WTF like that.

It's simple to inspect the front motor mount. It is located in front of the oil filter. Look at it from the bottom. Inspect the molded in spacer in the center. If the rubber has seperated from the rubber the mount is bad. Also look for small cracks or tears. If the front mount is bad you will notice increased vibration. If the rear cleave blocks are bad you will notice a hard sensation while hitting bumps. You might also see contact marks on the inner primary just behind the primary drain plug. Inspect the rear mounts. The mounts have cast in grooves in the rubber that look like two lines. Make sure these lines are parallel and not twisted. If they are replace the mount. You might even see contact marks just in front of the rear mount on the inner primary. If theeither mount is broken it could cause a broken "Y" pipe if not replaced soon enough.

I know how you feel man, myself and two other guys I work with all bought new 'o6 models, 2 Road Kings and a Street Glide. All three of the bikes have had front motor mount issues. All three have been replaced and no further issues. The new motor mount is a new design and has worked thus far. Take it to the dealer and let them know, all under warranty.
