Default Scan tool

I have been searching in vain for a scan tool that will work for my 2000 EGC (carburated) .

I saw some on evil-bay but they only go to 2001, although the Harley part numbers are the same for the ignition module from 2000 to 2003.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DAYTONA-TWIN-...item53ecda5e63

I don't want to spend 3k to get one from HD

Looking for options as I'm not a fan of taking my bike to the dealer for anything.

cheers

Your bike has a carb. What are you going to scan?

Carbed bikes have no computers to scan.

Actually there is a data port in the harness beside the module.

It has a check engine light.

You can retrieve codes using the pin method.

The computer has input sensors to adjust timing, Cam position, Crank position, MAP, ect.

It has malfunction codes just like the EFI bikes.

Hard codes keep the MIL illuminated, soft codes are stored in the history and checking codes using the MIL won't retrieve historical codes.

Therefore I need a scan tool to check.

Thanks for the help so far

Well I learned something. I would have never thought in a million years that a carbed bike had a computer with all the sensors like an EFI. Is it an MMI system or Delphi?

I bought a used breakout box for my MMI system. I've only used it once and it was very helpful. You might try and google the p/n of what you need and see what pops up. That's how I found mine. A guy had bought out the complete inventory of an HD shop that went out of business and the breakout box was listed along with a ton of other things.

Have you tried contacting Daytona Twin tec?

+1 on the learning something. Didn't know it had that much electronics in it either.
