How frequent are you changing the primary with formula??

My evo i changed it every other oil change which was 5 k miles. Took my 12 limited in and told the dealer formula in the primary and he said it would need to be changed at 2500 miles. Wtf? Told him my evo had 168k miles on it, running formula. Put new clutch in at 125k just because i wanted no problems. So when do you change primary if using formula? Sorry to hijack the thread

Does anyone know which atf's have friction modifiers and which don't.
I'm sticking with rotella. All the fluids I use are easily found on the road or a parts store.
Except for shockproof but I would have no issue running any gear oil in my tranny.
Your results may vary

ATF's are pretty much all the same nowadays. Been using it in my primaries for hundreds of thousands of miles and many years on more than a few HD's with zero problems. The stuff is cheap, always available and designed for everything the primary does. No compensator troubles either .
The HD stuff works just as well but costs more and you can only get it at HD. Naturally, if you buy ahead you won't have a problem but should you forget just go down to your local Oh! Oh! Oh! O'Reilly's and pick up some ATF and forget about it.
I've never run a motor oil in a primary but would do so in a pinch - sometimes you gotta' do what you gotta' do to get yourself back home.
I change the primary every service (5K mi).
