Default heat wrap the cat

Has anyone put heat wrapp on the cat to reduce heat? Does it harm the motor to do this? Thanks

It will knock down some heat, and it wont harm your motor, but wrap has the potential to accelerate oxidation/deterioration of the base metal of the pipe, by attracting and absorbing moisture and retaining more heat.

Why not just cut the cat out?

I put heat wrap on a Martin Bros pipe I had on my softail as there were no heat shields for the pipes. I really didn't notice much of a difference but it looked cool.

Just gut the cat and be done with it! You will notice a much cooler engine and it'll sound a little better too. You will thank me later when your out there on a hot day and your not roasting from all the heat your engine is throwing cuz of that damn cat!
