Good question . My current bike is the first one I have owned with a CB . I don't know how to use it. Oh I could get it working but never felt the need . I am curious how/why other riders use it . Weather stations could be handy I suppose
Our group uses CB communication all of the time. On group rides, it really helps coordinate stops, lane changes, etc.
I rode back with a riding partner today from Washington, DC after the Rolling Thunder ride yesterday. We chatted all of the way back our our CBs.
So yes, they are used by lots of riders to facilitate communications that make the ride better and more enjoyable....not to mention safer. We use channel 4 most of the time.

Used my CB with a group I was leading on a poker run last weekend. 3 with CBs. Pretty nice to communicate turn offs and road hazards with others in the group. Got separated at a stoplight and gave directions to the rear rider on how to turn and catchup. Don't know if there is a "biker" channel tho. We run channel 5.
