My buddy does it once tor twice a year....Not sure why though. I would imagine that after you burn youself once, that you will be a lot more careful getting off My buddy is a little slow with that I guess.

Never thought of that. That sounds like it will help getting over the back rest too. Almost sounds like getting on a horse. I will try that. One stupid question though. The bike will not tip, will it. And the inseam is 32". I'm 6 feet, (in the morning).

We need more information about your problem. Seems like you should dismount from the high side. Put your weight on your right leg, stand on itoutboard of the floorboard andpivot to facethe bike using the right hand grip for stability. Slide/pull your left leg straight over the seat. If you have restricted range of motion of your legs, this method would not require much stretching, wouldminimize burns and avoidscratching the bags orgas tank.

Or not.

No it should not tip. The trick is to place your weight towards the bike so as not to pull the bike up off the jiffy stand. It does work great when you have a backrest in place.

I have seen some very big guys mount this way for the simple reason that they couldn't lift their leg over the height of the seat.

Just practice it.

15 years ago I was doing over 50k miles on the G word bike. I have arthritis in the hips. 50 years young. Each day on the bike takes off a couple of years off.

Got us some Kevlar reinforced jean chaps from Zone Tail in Allentown, PA. Around $70 in 05. We met a couple in Chattanooga that sported them. Stripped down to comfy shorts for the day's events, they did. Made great sense and they aren't all that heavy or bulky. Great Spring and Fall layers.

Assuming the burn was on the inside calf and not the thigh. Have a bud watch your dismount while it is cold. Video if you can. You may see how close you leg gets everytime you begin to shift your weight to dismount. My wife has flexibility and size issues. She mounts up and dismounts from the left on her trike. "Pushes" and "Drags"her foot and right leg straight over the seat.

I'm am soooooooooooo happy I have a REAL bike I can't stand it. Bryan TTM, I'm looking at that option. My twin had the same thing. I might have to have that done too.

FLGEEZ I will look into the kevlar chaps you mentioned just in case. And that is a good idea with the video. I will do that tomorrow and let you know. I knew you guys would understand and have good ideas. Looking forward to tomorrow for a ride. I fly most of the day, but riding is too much fun for me. Its even better on a real bike. I waited too long, but better late than never.
