Default Fuel boiling?

The wife & me went out for a beautiful ride today with the exception of a two hour traffic jam, no way to get off freeway so had to gut it out. I had less then 1/4 tank and about 1 hour into it started surging, also constant clutch in, clutch out so the cyl. cutout couldnt really work, kinda the perfict storm for harleys. anyway im thinking the surging was boiling fuel, after picking up the pace it cleaned up and ran perfict, anybody else ran into this?

On a carbed bike I could see this as an issue. On a FI bike, the fuel is under constant pressure and surging isn't near (if at all) the problem it used to be. If your fuel is "boiling", the surging would be the least of my concerns.

sitting in traffic is a PIA. perfect excuse to split lanes or ride the shoulder and get out of traffic, even 2 up. Had the exact experience happen to me on the Pennsylvania turnpike, must have rode 10 miles between cars and on the shoulder so i would not burn up the bike, my clutch or myself
