A textile mesh jacket, I have a HD Switch Back jacket with zip out panels and HD Classic Cruiser jacket with a wind/water proof removable liner both have armor pockets. I hardly wear my leather jacket any more.
+1 for the HD Classic Cruiser mesh jacket that comes with the water and windproof liner. Its also good for the chilly morning start.
I had a HD switchback jacket, and it was convenient (leather panels over a mesh body), but the problem was that it wasn't a particularly good leather jacket, nor was it a particularly good mesh jacket. The leather was poor quality, and the mesh was polyester, not nylon, so it wouldn't offer much protection in a slide.
Now I wear a Vanson perforated leather jacket in warm weather. I'll add an insulated vest underneath when it's cool, or a hydro-evaporative vest underneath when it's hot. I've also got a cordura mesh jacket for those really hot days.
I have a nice broke in, HD leather perforated/mesh jacket that can be worn in the hottest temps. Good protection, cool enough to ride in and comfy. if it gets stifling hot, I soak my shirt in water and it acts like air conditioning as I ride.
I bought a FoxCreek vented cordura jacket last year.
It has front and back vents . The full zip out liner is perfect for cold mornings.
I wear it more than my leather jacket.
It is also MADE IN THE USA .

That is me in the review . They sent me a $25 gift certificate for the review and pics.
I used a Tourmaster Draft jacket on my 2010 Sturgis journey and it worked out great. This is mesh type jacket with CE body armor and also had the Aquatherm removeable dual liner for rain and cold weather. The liner is good for cold around mid 40's I'd say. I am not sure they still sale this jacket but sure they have something similar.
I was looking at the tourmaster air intake 3 yesterday. after taking out the rain liner and the insulated liner its a pretty light jacket with good ventilation. seems to have good shoulder and elbow armor. cycle gear has them on sale right now for $188 plus a fathers day discount. not trying to plug any retailer but a buck saved is a buck saved.
Thinking of snaggin one today.
I picked this "Custom Bilt" jacket for $ 99.00 from Cycle Gear last week. Ive been using it on local rides and to work in temps from 60 in the early AM to over 100 in the afternoon. Has a zip out liner and is completely vented mesh 80% front and back and 50% of the sleeves with light armor. Im real happy with it.
I did a trip with my dad from NC to DC a couple weeks ago. He's 70 years old and has had three heat strokes and is VERY susceptible to heat, so we left early in the morning. He wore this jacket: http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
I expected him to take it off after it warmed up, but he rode in it all the way in 80-90* weather. I was actually jealous of the fit and venting. I have a cheaper Harley mesh jacket. Mine isn't waterproof and doesn't flow air nearly as well as his does.
