Just got a 2012 RG Ultra, removed stock windshield, installed a new 9" H-D
wind splitter windshield....getting a lot of buffeting, wife does not want to ride on the back of this new bike. does the wind splitter really suck? so far yes. even removed the 9" wind splitter, rode the freeway with no windshield, some buffeting not bad.
Any Road Glide riders getting less buffeting with the 10",7",6" or 5" windshields? really want "the look" of a cool road glide and still have function of wind deflection.....
So what are you road gliders using? do you have Buffeting?
Do harley dealers have demo / test windshields that customers can try before they buy?
Yes Harley has demo Windsplitter shields in all three sizes. For both the Shark Nose and Batwing fairings. Klock Werks also has a demo program for their windshields at some Harley dealers and lots of independent shops. I've found that it's harder to find the Klock Werks demo shields available for Road Glides. You can check the Klock Werks website to find a list of local shops in your area that participate in the demo program.
From reading a lot of forums and talking to a lot of owners in person, it seems that it takes a different way to fix buffeting for each rider. No one shield or other "fix" seems to be the magic bullet for everyone.
I'm running the 9" Windsplitter and have no buffeting. Feels great, looks great. I've also run a Windvest 10" shield, no buffeting with it either. I like the look of the Windsplitter a bit better, but would not hesitate to put the Windvest back on (if it hadn't gotten all smashed up when that guy ran into me )
While this is a great forum for all general topics HD related, for specialized Road Glide topics you may want to try roadglide.org. All Road Glides, all the time...
P.S. I have a Madstaad windshield with a set of Sancho wings....
