I have an 07 Ultra with 255s tru duals and pcv. Looking for a little more. I've read countless posts and still don't know.
Which would be better bang for the buck. Do th heads and reprogram or run it up to Jamie at FM and do 107?

C ....... all of the above....
Actually the 107 with stock heads would be a waste of money..... the flip side, .....head work with your stock displacement would give you a good kick in the seat..... my opinion only....

Seeing as he has a 96 I would disagree. I did the 107 and no head work to speak of and my numbers went up by 50%+. I was at 60/70 and I'm now up to 96/114. The difference is amazing.
No doubt doing the heads will add a lot more power, but to be honest, I'm very happy with where it's at.

I had my heads machined for more compression and ported and polished. My 106 hits 100tq at 2300rpm and stays over 100 til 5200rpm the n the hp climbs.
If your gonna build it I suggest doing everything all at once. If it's in your budget that is.
I tore down my 103 last winter and built a 107 at 10.75 compression, woods tw8 cams. I was starting with a factory 103 at stock (9.6) compression. I wanted to raise compression in some way, and in every case, it involves pulling the heads. (mill the heads for samller chambers, go to higher compression 103 pistons, or going with a 107 build).
Once the heads are off the motor, it's only another 45 minutes or so to swap in new pistons and jugs, so lots of guys figure that's the best time to build a bigger motor. If you were starting from 96, you might have more incentive, but there's still lots of gains to be made by building a 103 out to 107.

Disagree, I upgraded from the HD 103 to the FM 107 without head work and the bike ran strong at 97/115. No pinging, no valve train noise, no compression issues....very solid. Link
Now I'm running Level B heads and have even more power.

That's some great info with some factors I didn't consider. I just knew there are 103s out there making about the same or more power than mine so I figured the extra 4 cubes weren't a big factor.
