Default Vanishing Headlight

Have an '05 RG. While riding at nite, I went from low beam to high beam & lost all lights. Replaced blown fuse and it's good. If at highway sped I go from low to high beam it blows. High to low has no effect. Also, while at idle speed or stationary, low to high or high to low has no effect. Any ideas? about a year prior to this event, i changed a headlight bulb. other than that, nothing electrical has been touched. Thanks.

Friend of mine had the same problem on his 05 RG, The fix was to change out the connectors for the headlight assembly on his, thats where i would start looking, if they are discolored or have a burnt smell like his did, change them. Hope this helps.

As mentioned above, check the connections. sounds like something is shorting it out, maybe only does it when you have the vibration of highway speed? I'd look for frayed wires while you're at it. Had this problem with an atv. turns out the vibration was enough to shake the connectors loose at the light and short it but only when the atv was at speed.

Check the wires closely from the bulbs back about a foot. My guess is you pinched a wire when reinstalling the fairing. This can cause it to blow the fuse in a somewhat intermittent manner. Don't ask me how I know.
