I haven't done them, but you are correct. Forks are scheduled to be disassembled and checked every 50k, that's normally when the seals are replaced unless one starts leaking before that time.

Darned distracting when trying to read posts People like Dave should be required to post the model's name under their avatar. For research purposes.

PS, sorry to OP for the thread poaching
PM me if you want to bro and I'll fill you in on the details.

When i installed my 21in front wheel I lowered the front by 1 inch using the Race Tech kit. IMO, ride is better than stock.

I installed on 21 front wheel on my 09 Street Glide earlier this year. You can use your factory brake calipers but most guys go with new rotors to match the new wheel. Make sure you get two piece rotors if you have the Brembo calipers. I first installed one piece rotors and was getting brake pulsation. Switched to the two piece rotors and problem solved.

You can keep your stock fender but you'll have to drill the mounting holes slightly larger to raise it 1/4 inch to clear the tire. That's what i did.

Many options for lowering the front. Progressive and Race Tech sell new spring kits that can be used to lower the front. You can also buy Progressive monotubes [more expensive] to do the same thing. The monotubes basically just replace the stock spring system....simple install. I went with the Race Tech system and can say it's better than stock even though it's one inch lower.

Thanks, getting a lil price shock on the wheels, i'm a firefighter and was looking for somethen to relate to my profession. i see many still running the stock rear, is this common sense the bags cover it.

Many opinions on this. You can't see much of the rear wheel but some is visible. Rather than spending the extra $1500 on a rear wheel i decided to go a different direction. My new front wheel has glossy black rim with chrome spokes. I had my stock back wheel powdercoated glossy black, as well as the pulley. I installed a brake rotor to match the front. Cost me about $100 for the powder coating. I think it looks damn good.
