I am an ER nurse at one of the busiest trauma hospitals in the nation. See motorcyle wrecks literally every day. And like has been said here I have never seen jeans save anyone. The worst road rash that I have ever seen actually was a guy wearing full gear who laid bike over at only 15 mph on a bridge that had gravel on it. Denim may as well be saran wrap at any speed about 10 mph. Leather is certainly better than nothing. What makes me laugh the most is that some of the people who are the most adamant about always wearing all the gear are the ones who don't wear helmets. How does that make any sense!!
Shorts just seem ridiculous. Even if there is not a crash involved, there are just to many hot parts not to have some protection. My secretaries sone had to get skin grafts last summer after his buddy showed him how to ride dirt bikes. The kids was weraing tennis shoes and shorts. Burned the hell oout of his inner thigh on the exhaust.
My bike albeit fun is transportation. I don't go anywhere but work in long pants. So yea I ride in shorts. I know jeans may offer slightly more safety but then again my truck would provide me a lot more safety. Just doesn’t make sense not to be confortable… And for the record I don’t give 2 ***** what it looks like I wasn’t trying to impress you in the first place.
I always ride with pants, chaps added when cool.
I feel that pants offer something for protection- bugs, bees! and such and if you go down, I'd rather have a another layer before skin eats the road.
I would hate to have a bee get up the leg of the shorts..... that there would not be a fun time. I got stung on my earlobe going 75 mph, ( half helmet on) gave me a headache for the next 250 miles of the ride.
Add me to the crowd! Same place, I can't remember how many years ago! LOL! Saw your pic & just snaped these off to show how it will look in 10+ years.
That is awesome! I just showed your picture to my wife and she laughed too.
I found out my jacket does little to protect from bees. On my very first ride, a bee went up my sleeve and was preparing to wreak havoc. I squished him between my arm and the inside of the jacket by pounding my forearm on my chest and stomach. That must have been entertaining to watch.
