Question Adding a headset connector

Hello,

I did a search and can't find what I need. I want to add a factory headset connector to my '04 Electra Glide Classic. Like the one that comes on the Ultra's. I don't need to do anything other than listen to the radio. The reason I want to add the factory type headset connector is that I've come to really like using the factory headset when riding my Road Glide Ultra, and I already have the factory headset in a couple of my helmets.

So does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks very much.

I would contact Iron Cross Audio to see what they can do. They do all sorts of mods on the Harmon radios in the later model touring bikes. Call and see if they can do the same on the Radio Sound unit in your bike.

Thanks for the info and link. I'll see if they have anything.

I seem to recall that there's a cable coming out of the radio that has some kind of DIN connector on it. I was hoping it was the connector that the Ultra Classics use and I would be able to run an extension off of that. No one here has added the stock headphone jack to a Classic?

Thanks again,
Dave.

I add ear bud jacks to my Classics, 1/8" stereo, not the din.

The New headsets take a 7 pin DIN.. older ones use a 5. I added one to mine but its not connected to the bike radio.. Mine is connected to my Amateur Radio, but mine is a '94...

Call Radio Sound, HD's vendor for the radio in your '04, and ask if what you want to do is possible. Phone: 502.267.6768.

If your Classic's radio will support a headset connection, you'll need to fab your own harness from the headset connector to the radio.

Prior to '06, the RS radios were different for Ultras and non-Ultras since the CB/Intercom/etc. were built into the radios. On the '06 and newer radios, they are all the same with the additional features added w/modules and flashes to the basic HK head unit.

If you get no joy from RS, swapping out your RS radio with a '06 or newer HK radio is a simple swap; plug and play. With the HK, adding a headset connector is very simple.
