How tall are you? I'm 5'-8" and running the 6.5 and it's perfect for me. As the others said you want to look over it, not through it. I am looking well over the top of the 6.5, but it still provides impressive protection. The lip diverts wind and bugs over the top of my helmet and the "hips" on the shield smooth the airflow to the sides.
You can make it shorter by cutting a slice off the bottom (part that goes in fairing). Even if you mess it up a little, it will not be visible. There are posts in this forum on cutting down windshields.
If you try to cut it down at the bottom, you might render it unusable. It needs to conform to your fairing or it won't fit properly. Best thing to do is bite the bullet and pay return postage so you can get the proper size.
I cut the bottoms of stock windscreens with a rotozip.
easy.
Use another windscreen as a template to mark the contours of the cut, you can open up the keyholes if you want to make swaps easiler.
I have not used a KW or other recurve, but as pointed out again and again this 'problem' is the result of poor product choice, not poor product.
and you have a couple of options.
the "looking thru" is one of the reasons I do not recurve- in crap weather I tuck into the windscreen- with the distortion of a recurve that would not be possible esp. at night.

Received my Klockwerks windshield yesterday looks very nice but. When you look through the windshield where the fancy curve is the view is distorted. I live in Canada so a return will cost me a small fortune. Thinking about cutting it down. Try one of these before you buy one.
Yer not to be looking through any type of shield, but rather just over top of it.
You actually shouldnt notice it even being there. i shouldnt say shouldnt but i dont notice mine being there. I like my 6.5 KW just fine but im thinking of getting a LRS and trying it out.
