I was looking at that online yesterday & thought the same thing.
After looking at those mounts I went into my garage & started looking in my box of spare parts accumulated over the past 30+ years. I found a new in plastic home stereo speaker bracket that only required a slight adjustment in the angle, and to have a clearance hole drilled for the center bolt. AN hour later my Zumo660 was off the handlebar an on the dash between windshield bags. I also drilled the rivets out of the center bag to remove it.
ditto, just make up a bracket like the store bought ones, and paint it
I don't have a GPS unit, but I do have an iPhone and an aftermarket bluetooth head unit. I stream my music, and when it's time the music softens and Google maps says turn right in 100 feet, then the music resumes. I don't have to take my eyes off the road to look at the screen, and I don't have to add a mount of any kind.
T and T fab mount for me as well, no cutting or drilling and wiring is easy since it goes between the inner and outer fairing. For me this is the best viewing position possible to minimize taking your eyes off the road, and with the GPS speedo being more accurate than the Harley stock speedo it puts the correct speed right in your face as well. http://www.tandtfabrications.com/
you said that you ran the wire between the outer and inner fairing without drilling a hole for the wire? Can you please post a picture of how you did this?

I'm usually tasked with being the lead bike and route planner. I wanted a setup that would make this easy and allow for advanced planning. I decided to use the iPad mini with Retina display (great in sunlight). I still have full deflection on my bars. It mounts to the gas cap cover with accessory mount using a Ram mount. Easy on, easy off. Not wanting to burn through data I bought ($20-$30 depending on map version) Copilot Premium from the App Store. Copilot just uses the iPads gps no data time while riding. The iPad also acts as my music player too.
