Trying to determine when does the bike actually go to reserve? On the dash, you can push the botton for different menu's and one shows r and x amount of miles. Does this mean its already on reserve or does this mean its going to reserve in x amount of miles? I ran 194 miles with, fuel gauge shows empty and R is showing 61 miles. I stopped for fuel and only put in 4.6 gallons.
The display showing 61 miles was estimating that you have that much fuel left. Once it gets to about 10 miles, it will just say low fuel. I have been there and continued to ride for several more miles, more then 10. When I filled-up, I put in about 5.7 gallons. YMMV
I always run on my range meter, if I run it down to zero miles it always take 5 gallons to top off my tank. Since the bike has a 6 gallon tank I should have apx a gallon left in the tank. So apx anothor 40 plus miles.
I never look at the gas gauge.
But, when the range meter hits 30ish I'm looking for a gas station just to be on the safe side.
I did 265 miles on a tank with my stock 08 Street Glide. More than a few slower miles trying to conserve fuel. The gas gauge by the time I got gas only read your F*****
99 Ultra, I know for a fact i've got 22 miles when low fuel light comes on...last 5 miles at about 45 mph tho. Hard to ride with your legs, fingers and arms crossed :-))

ROFLMAO!!!! I think mine has said that once before too.
On my 08, the fuel light comes on when the R (remaining) hits 40 miles. By then, my gas gauge is buried near E, but I still have approximately 1 gallon left.

Mine read that the other night right before I pumped 5.97 gals into the tank. I was out in the country and taking back roads, figured I would hit a little town with a gas station soon. LO light came on, probably went another 40 miles before I found the gas station. Thought for sure I would be talking a farmer out of his lawnmower gas.
