I will be in the Yellowstone area the last week of June and would like a little input from you experienced riders. How difficult of a ride is Beartooth pass? Switchbacks, road conditions, weather, two up verses solo? I have been riding touring 6 years now and have ridden the needles, spearfish, trail ridge road without too much dificulty. My buddy has been riding for 40 years off and on but has only about 1000 miles under his belt on a touring Harley. I would like anybody's input as to good idea bad idea. Thanks
Even in June, I suggest riding once the sun has been up for awhile to burn off any possible icy patches. If you've done Trail Ridge and other mountain highways, then you won't have a problem. Enjoy... it's a beautiful ride.
Just remember its not a race, it is a very enjoyable ride lots to see. If you have time ride Chief Joseph highway while your there. I have ridden it in June and in August there was more snow in June. They have doing road construction the last 2 years, so you might hit a bit of a delay on the cooke city side.
Thanks guys. Kinda settles my mind a bit. Looking forward to riding Yellowstone and the beautiful area around it. Wife and I honeymooned there 30 years ago. Any good eats in the north Yellowstone area?

Good advice/suggestions. We have always rode it the last week in July. It sleeted the last time we were there. You never know what will happen that high up. But it is my all time favorite road!! Go for it!
Yellowstone: When I was there in 2010 I ate at the Cowboy's Lodge and Grill in Gardiner, MT - on 2nd Street just south of the Yellowstone River. Good BBQ!
Beartooth: any road is easy at the proper speed. Seriously, you won't have problems - one of the best roads I've ever been on!

Thanks for the advise again. Should be a great trip! A lot of great sights to see in just a week. Will post some pics of trip when we return home. Wife is getting pretty good with a camera from the back of the bike.
If you exit Yellowstone's east gate and go through Cody take the Chief Joseph Highway (Hwy 296) take the Beartooth into Red Lodge. Spend the night in Red Lodge and then come back over the Beartooth the other direction. Did that ride in early Sept and it was great...be prepared for any type of weather at that elevation.
