Default Samson 33" Longtails input

I put Samson 1 7/8 Long-tails on a 2012 Ultra Classic and it's extremely loud. I've heard other bikes with fish-tails and it's not as loud, including one of my buddies. Others also have a deeper tone. Anyone know what I can do to quite it down? I ordered the baffles but I'm not sure how big of a difference it'll make.

Ask your buddy what his set-up consists of.... There may lie the answer to your question.

213sleeper,
The baffles will help to quiet the bike down since you are now running with straight pipes.
Thanks,
JR

My buddy is running the 1 7/8 fishtails, screaming eagle stage 1 intake and tuned ecu from the dealer on his deluxe. This is why I ordered the 1 7/8 version for my bike. Could it be could my bike is a 103 and his is a 98? Would it make that big of a difference?

JR, will they drastically reduce the exh wrapping when off the throttle and the loud noise when on the throttle cruising at highway speeds?

I have run striaght and baffled on mine. When you install the baffles you will be happy and it will have the RAP sound that you are longing for at high RPM shifting.

The baffles are an easy install and removal and I take mine out at local rallies just to increase my adrenaline. haha

One of my closest friends has unbaffled Samson fishtails on his springer softail. That is probably the best sounding bike in our group, it's definitely got some volume. I enjoy riding behind his bike, just for the sound. It's a traditional HD sound, I'm not a fan of the super deep sounding exhausts that sound more like a muscle car than a Harley.

The baffles can reduce the back rap sound if installed.
Thanks,

Just the thread I was looking for... I plan on getting some fishtails on mine before too long but was scared to get them and have to deal with it being stupid loud. Do you think the baffles are going to kill the power? I'm guess the back pressure might help a bit with torque..

Baffles do help with torque.
