I have the 940's on a 2011 Ultra Limited. hate them. I'm 215lb have them set to 1/2 turn preload and still way to stiff, wife does not want to ride anymore, too much back pain. Looking at getting Ohlin #6s from Howard at Motorcycle Metal. I would read the forums and see if you can get some feedback on Ohlins first. I would gladly sell you mine. They are 2 weeks old.

You may want to contact Progressive and send them in for the lighter springs,it will only cost you the 12.00 for USPS Flate Rate shipping. In my experience anyone under about 230 lbs or so is to light for the stock springs.

Im 210-220 and run the lighter springs and really like the improvement the 940 made to my bike over the stock shocks. Even with the lighter springs Im only runing about 1.5 -2.5 turns of preload and I like a firm ride.

To the OP, use the search there is a lot of info on the 940s and other shocks. IMO the 940 for the $ are a great improvement over stock but they are not Ohlins or Terrycable or Works. There are higher end products out there available and if the $ and your riding style justify it look at the other shocks available.

Id buy the 940 again based on my budget and riding style, they are much better than stock. If $ was not a concern Id probably look a t a set of 3-3 from Howard at Motor Cycle Metal, he gives a great deal and they are top of the line shocks

At 6'4" 300 lbs. I am a bit heavier that the other guys. I am running the progressive 940's, monotubes and touring link. The combined package is night and day better than stock. I have ridden the newer framed touring bikes and my '07 outhandles / out rides a stock >09 touring platform easily. With that said I would certainly consider the Ohlins if I were to do it again. But bang for the buck my setup is very good.

If you are intending to buy the more expensive types of shock, do NOT buy them in a box off the shelf! It shouldn't cost any more to buy them from a competent supplier who will ensure you have the correct springs etc for YOU!

I couldn't run to Ohlins #6, so bought #3s instead. They are truly wonderful!

I have the 940 on my 2011 limited and like them. Probably have 12-13K, ride most solo but some 2-up. 5'7" maybe 200 lb. riding weight. Did some experimentation with the tension setting, down to maybe the 2nd ring as I recall. Ride improved after a few miles on them. Would put them on again if needed.

Oh and night and day from the stock lowered crap.
