Pipes........however, I would hit craigslist and other classifieds and see if you cant find compairable items and try to do both. I just picked up a pair of rinehart 3.5 slip ons off craigslist for $80. Things are out there to be had for cheap you just have to search high and low and be patient.......

APES!!!

Just do a google search for Road Kings with Apes. Your bike would look awesome with some Wild Ones.

I loved my RK when I had it. BUT I was never really comfortable on it until I put my 16" apes on it. After I did the apes I could ride all day long with no neck or shoulder pain. Sure pipes are great and as you said at some point you will do both but for me, it would be a simple choice with bars as it totally changed my comfort on my king.

Ride safe,

T

it is a tough choice stock sounds is horrible but shoulder pain is no fun. you can't go wrong with apes. Here is a pic pipes and apes so you can decide what makes more of an impact.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/image...attach/jpg.gif

That's an easy choice for me. Slip-ons. But, I would NEVER put apes on any bike.

It's your bike, if you want a more comfortable ride go with new bars. If you want the Look at me, look at me, look at me affect go with louder pipes. Ride safe.

I'd say go for comfort then for sound granted the slipons is an easier fix than the apes if you're gonna be doing the install your self
