Installed J&M 7.25 speakers. No amp. Great improvement.
For those of you wondering if you need an amp, I just installed the non-Rokker J&M 7.25" speakers in my Streetglide last night and found a great improvement. I could hear my Harley speakers, but the J&M speakers give me great volume and huge improvement in clarity. The mid range and treble is especially improved and clear. I found the entire kit on Ebay used but just like new. The foam pads for inside the fairing, instructions, individually packaged hardware and receipt were all included. I wondered and researched for a long time and am glad I went with these speakers. I don't think I will ever think about adding an amp.
There will never be such a thing as a "really great" sounding speaker in a HD fairing (that's just physics). But the improvement was pretty dramatic...
I've got the 7.25's too and I've been reading info all day on this site. And what Im hearing is the amp really doesn't make that much of a difference. Is that true?
i went to the j&p open house last weekend and the j&m guys where there they had bikes with and without the amp in them and i have to say the bikes with the amp sounded somewhat better to me then without. i just dont like you lose the auto volume when you put an amp in myself

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why does adding an amp cause you to lose the auto volume?
