Default electrical issue

I had a strange issue today. The radio would not shut off when I was riding. Also when switching between WB,AM,FM I had to hit the switch multiple times, but would always skip the CD mode. Sometimes the volume switch worked but sometimes it didn't. During this problem some of the indicator lights on the speedometer would flash and the speedometer and tach would drop to zero and come right back to normal. When I got home I let the bike sit for a few minutes then started the motor. The radio is now fine and everything works as usual. Any ideas ? I will say it is extremely hot today and the bike was sitting in the sun when I was eating lunch for about 1/2 hour. Not sure that should make a difference.

Check battery connections and check and clean grounds. Remove them and brush all contacting metal then re-install.

Thanks for the input. I cleaned the battery terminals and cables. Rode for 250 miles into the Catskills today with no issue. Thanks again.
