After reading many messages here about what lay in store for me when it came time to activate the free 90 day trial that came with my 665 I went ahead and called XM yesterday. Not surprisingly, the operator was clueless when I told her of the Harley/XM offer. After threatening to not sign up at all unless I had the full 90 days she put me on hold for a few minutes while she checked with someone. When she returned she told me that the offer had either "expired" or Harley neglected to register my radio. Sheeeesh. After a bunch of back and forth XM agreed to the 90 day trial and it sounded like they were doing it as a special favor for me. The radio and weather/traffic activated just fine and during a short ride yesterday all appeared to work great.
Last night I checked my account online and saw they had my trial expiration listed as 8/2 instead of the 10/2 I was told. So..... another call to XM this morning. The operator this morning told me (again after being put on hold while he "talked to someone") that it'll take 7-10 days for the correct 10/2 trial date to show online. Ummmm... ok? I'll check in a couple of weeks and see, but I'm fully expecting to have to make another call. I really need the 90 day trial because we're taking a 2 week trip to Sturgis/Colo/Grand Canyon in early august and I'd prefer to make my final opinion on XM during that trip.
At least XM is consistent...consistentlty bad at customer service. They told me to call the dealer to get it straightened out. I like my dealer and they had no friggin' clue what to do.
I hope it works out for you. At least you got the traffic & weather with your "trial".

When I had Sirius radio (before XM merged) I always had problems with my account. It was such a hassle I gave up and dumped it. They always charged me (at least tried) extra and had my account expiring at different times during the year.
I just 2 weeks ago went through the same crap with xm, they finally turned it on but no weather, called them back and they said it would take 7-10 days to hear back from headquarters (or some such nonsince) ..I needed the weather because i was leaving on a trip 2 days later and so I just gave up and ended up paying for the whole deal....I call it bait and switch.....and by the way the people on the other end of the phone are in singapore...
^^^^ That's what I ended up doing. How does a company like this stay in business? They emailed me a day later to take a survey about my call to their Customer Service. I couldn't have roasted them any more, but it'll never make a lick of difference.
