Default Weekend wrench or dealership?

Believe I have an exhaust leak. Dropped off of a curb that was just a little higher than my pipes. I was going very slow, but tapped both pipes about three inches from the tips. Anyway, I have popping when shifting and very loud popping (almost like a backfire) when accelerating from idol. Is this something that can be fixed by just re-seating and tightening a few bolts/clamps? Or should I take it to the dealership?

I would go over it yourself first. Take the bags off, and if you have a lift it will be much easier to do the inspection. But it also can be done rolling around on the floor. Loosen the clamps for the mufflers and readjust.

You may have bent either the mufflers (where they connect to the head pipe) or the head pipe itself.

I'd suggest removing both, take them to a muffler shop, and have them re-round (expand) the ends.

I have a hand-held muffler expander but the thickness on both the mufflers and pipes is rather heavy duty and requires a large wrench to expand.

Good luck!
