So I appreciate all of the replies on my other dumb post about where my cigarette lighter is.... and now I have a second. I am getting new to me exhaust and I am not sure what documents will be coming with them. They are rinehard 3.5's and I was wondering what the torque specs are on the clips and and on bolts on the back underneath the bags and do I need to loctite any of it. I know I need to get a shop manual but my dealer doesnt have one in stock but should be getting them soon!
Thanks in advance!
the "torco" clamps on the mufflers are meant to deform when torqued, and replaced if the pipes are changed.
But they can usually be reused, it depends on if the last Guy torqued them to the point they deform- usually factory installs do.
So plan on getting a couple of new torco clamps ( 2). ( it's possible your new pipes may come with clamps)
when you put yours on the factory spec is 38~ 43 ft lbs. go on the low side so maybe the clamps can be reused.
bolts on the mufflers torque to 8~10 ft lbs use locktite, blue.
the only tricky parts are: don't strees the header pipes when removing the old muffler, once you start to think about banging on something with a hammer, get a Pal to help hold and secure the header pipes, while you work the mufflers off, wiggling in a round motion will help to spread the muffler joint.
once the pipes are on loosely ( rear bolts torqued, torco clamps loose) have your Pal hold the bike up and go look from behind to make sure the mufflers are hanging symetrically, and extend the same distance rear ward. Then tighten the torcos

Also, you'll want to run a bead of "hi-temp" silicone (copper) inside the new pipe opening (pipe/header joint) to prevent any leaks. Mkguitar's got you covered on everything else - have fun w/the install & post pics.
+1 on the above...especially using the high-temp silicone sealent. I would imagine you will have instructions that will give you the torque values and it probably wouldn't hurt to read them.
I know for mine (D&D 2-1 FatCat) the muffler clamp is a bit of a different animal and 12 - 15 ft pds is the factory spec.
At the risk of getting flamed, I have a friend who bought Riney's and ended up going back to the dealer to buy some HD clamps because the ones that came with his pipes were (his words) "cheap POS's".
