Remove lowers???
I just recently put lowers on my bike, I didn't really notice a heat difference, I did notice my pants don't flap as much, and riding in the rain is a lot more tolerable, I don't think I'll be removing mine.
i leave mine on... rains often. i use the adjustable fairing wings to direct flow of air back to help cool things down from the exhaust heat. doesn't matter when stopped gonna get hot no matter what a guy does.
I have tried mine with out the vent doors and still too hot. My 2011 RGU's engine runs cooler without the lowers on. I have used a IR thermometer to check both cylinders and considerably cooler without and doing data collection with TTS also shows that the front cylinder head temp is much cooler without. I am guessing the people who say they run cooler with lowers in place have not actually checked. Heck I don't mind a little breeze on my knees and a little rain won't make me melt. I have 20,000 miles on my RGU and the majority of the miles are with the lowers hanging in the garage. Put over 80,000 miles on my 04 EGC and it never had lowers and my legs are doing just fine.
+ whatever on removing the doors.
its easy enough to do. take the cap off, there are 3 torx screws, remove them and the glovebox comes off. 1/2 wrench to take the nut at the pivot point off, and you're done. 10 minutes tops.
