I live in Colorado and I'm running 91 octane. Either way I'm calling FM...for the price I paid they shouldn't be turning color with there complete setup.
I don't believe there is ANY pipe/muffler manufacturer that warranties color changes to pipes.
Too many variables such as altitude transitions, fuel blend/quality/type, your individual tune, possibility of intake/exhaust leakage that you might not be even be aware of.
I'm not associated with any fabricator/manufacturer; just a hunch. Maybe get to it early with the 'blue job' and hope for the best.
BTW my SEPST tuned stage 1 turned off blue with the OEM header/SE slip on combo within 1000 miles of brand new. Not a concern to me but I respect your feeling about it.
I agree they may not warrenty it but I'm going to at least ask. I would be a little less irratated about it if it wouldnt have taken FM eight plus weeks to get me my SS head pipes when they told me four to six weeks. I'm not bashing FM I think they are a great company but after waiting as long as I have and only after two weeks and many hundreds of dollars I see issues....makes me a tiny bit angry. Again I'm not going to loose a ton of sleep over it I'd they tell me to buzz of.
Use Blue Away, not Blue Job, I have tried both and Blue Away works much better, is a white powder you mix a little water with and rub on, took the blueing all off my v star, is really good stuff.
Uncoated SS/steel headpipes will always turn gold and blue that's why you have shields to cover it up. As long as your chrome mufflers don't turn you should be fine.
It's not the head pipe turning color that I care about it's the chrome muffler. On my bike that is what has turned yellow.
Sorry I'm slow but that slow. :-)

On my prior Kawasaki I had a Muzzy stainless steel 2-1 meg exhaust (tuned by Jamie with a PCIII). The stainless does turn into a kinda cool looking bronze'sh tint. This is probably normal to some extent ...
You guys do understand that it's my chrome muffler that is turning yellow right? Not sure why everyone thinks its the actual head pipe behind the heat shields I'm talking about. It's not normal in my opinion for good chrome to do this. My stock mufflers didn't and my expensive FM sure shouldn't either!
