I have an '06 FLHTCI and I have had minimal problems with it. I had the injectors changed out but that was the result of a bulletin so it was a warranty issue. Last summer my voltage regulator went south but it was six years old and had 47K on it at that time. I changed out the cam chain tensioners and upgraded to the hydraulic tensioners but that too is an issue specific to '06 and earlier models. The upgraded tensioners went across the board on the '07 and later models. I have had no leaks whatsoever. The motor has been tight as a drum, no leaks. All in all my '06 has been very dependable.
Oh, my fairing brackets broke, but that is a problem common to all batwings. They did modify the design of the bracket in a a later model year but I don't know what year they made the change.
Hi Good luck, I have an '06 Ultra with 92,000 reliable miles. Updated to the new cam plate and hydraulic tensioners, new injectors. Also braided steel lines for brake, clutch and throttle. Followed HD's recommended service scheduleds and have outstanding service out of the old girl! Hope the bike you look at works out for you.
