Default Antenna help

I have a 2012 street glide and installed a boom hidden antenna. For the most part it works fine but I'm detecting some static. I didn't remove the original antenna wire and was thinking to reconnecting it and puttig a pigtail connector in the back of the radio and connecting both. My question is since the boom antenna Is powered will this cause any issues and second any ideas where I can find a pigtail to fit the Harley radio. Thanks for ur help

Can't connect both at the same time...it will create a miss-match between the antenna and the radio...its one or the other...

I have a powered hidden antenna from Pep Boys and a y splitter with just the antenna wire hooked up to it and everything is fine, works better than just the hidden antenna.

How will that burn out the radio? You're just adding another signal path to the radio.

I'm not questioning anyone's expertise here, just looking for an explanation since I don't have any expertise on the subject.

The reason I ask is when I took my fairing off, I found an antenna wire laying across the inside that was hooked up to a small box the size of a cigarette pack. I did notice that I was losing my FM radio signal after a short 30 mile trip west (all previous trips werew east of the radio station that I listen to). I do have the shortys on my bike and was thinking of trying both inputs for maximum signal strength.

Kinda pointless to use both antennas isn't it? Kinda defeats the purpose of the "hidden" antenna. I'm a firm believer that the color of the fairing effects how well the hidden antenna works.

Normally hidden antenna inside fairing via y-splitter is done when you detach tour pak you have backup antenna without need relocate tour pak antenna.
