Default Rear shock air pressure...

I have touring air shocks fitted to my Dyna. I would be interested to know what sort of pressure you put in your shocks for solo and passenger riding. I appreciate my bike is quite a bit lighter, but I would still be interested in what pressures you guys run at?

on my Streetglide I started out around 10lbs, this was smooth for me riding solo (I'm about 160lbs) it would bottom with the wife sometimes so I up the pressure to about 18lbs. A little firm sometimes solo but it seemed to be a good place for 2up.

I hope this helps

What year are the shocks? Different years different maxium air pressure I run 30-40 on a 09, earlier shocks had a lower maxium air pressure.

Good point on the year of shocks. I think the part number on mine were 97, so older shocks.
So what would be the max pressure for older style shocks?

I think you'll have to sort that for yourself

on my 1995 EG Classic ( same shocks as yours) I usually ran about 15 pounds solo- but that is witha bike hundreds of pounds heavier than yours..

My 09 EGC I run anywhere from 12 to 28 pounds depending on load ( the point is a change the pressure depending on how much weight in people or gear is added).

on the same bike when i switch to the shorter street glide shocks, I find that 7 pounds is about right, solo, no gear, tour pak removed.

with the correct pump/gauge, adjustments are easy and take minutes.

I used an early style air shock on a Sportster years ago. Start at about 10 pounds and increase the pressure 2-3 pounds at a time untill you get the results you want.

On my '90 UC the owners manual says 5 lbs for solo. So you can see a big difference in the years. I have after market shocks on mine now, so I can't help you.

I am 160lbs and although my manual says ~5lbs, I prefer 15lbs on my 09 riding solo. Roads down here are smooth as glass though... It will probably change when I retire and move back to the KC area in 3 years. Lol
