I would like to share my experience with Black Hills HD. It was our 2nd day of vacation and while riding through South Dakota the excessive heat melted the glue that holds the sole of my right boot on. I stopped at BHHD to get a new pair of boots. Since the boots were only a few weeks old the salesman (sorry I didn't get his name) said he would see what he could do. Of course I didn't have my receipt with me and he said they no longer handle that style of boot and it is no longer available, but he would warrenty the boots anyway. He allowed me list price toward another style of my choice. I felt it was something that he didn't have to do. 30 min. later we were back on the road with a new pair of boots. Thanks again BHHD Rapid City.
First day at 70th Sturgis rally on my 2008 when my left SuperTrapp slip-on loosened to the point of almost falling off. BHHD saved my day, all without charge! Great friends to the traveler. (BTW the mechanic was given a nice tip and kudos).
Well here is the other side. Bought a new 2010 ultra from them. There was a couple of small chips in the paint on the tour pack. They assured me that they would get fix them. After calling several times and a run around, it wasn't fixed. The chips are still there. I'm still waiting for them to call back with the name of the place that is suppose to fix them. Thank goodness they aren't in a real visible place. Remember to inspect the bike before signing the papers!
I also had a good experience with BHHD. Two years ago my wife and I were returning from Yellowstone and the Beartooth pass. I became very ill with a infection. My wifes clutch starting acting up so we had to get it fix and I wasn't up to looking at it.
We stopped and they fixed the clutch right away and help us get back on the road.
They by far are my favorite dealership. In 07 we were in the hills for a fall ride, noticed I had an exhaust leak on my new bike(bought elsewhere). It was a Sat. morning and we headed to BHHD to see if we could schedule a repair. Bang, they got us right in. During the 2010 Rally I went in to get a louder horn, ended up with a 2010 Ultra Classic. Our salesman Gator was a great person to deal with. Off and on over the past couple of years we have been back for service or just to visit. Gator greets us every chance he gets, calls us by name and asks about out grandchild. Ed in service shocked me one day, had not been in in over a year and I walk into the service dept. to schedule some work and he says "Scott, how are you doing." Now thats service. With all the people that come through the doors each year. They know your name. Koodles to BHHD. Have sent friends there to buy and they rave about the service. Now I have a dealer less than 20 miles from me, but would rather drive 400 for my service.
Wife and i rode out that way last year and had problem with bike stumbling. Called BHHD up on saturday morning and they worked me in as quickly as they could and found out i had an old, outdated download in the ECM. Even tho they couldn't find a newer, upgraded download (age of bike, MM injection) they were on the phone, calling some places down the road to see if anyone could help. (found the upgraded download at my indy's when we got home). All in all a good experience.
It's those kind of dealers that kind of restore your faith in the MoCo. I had a good experience there a few years back with a motor mount. Very helpful, and I fixed it in the parking lot. Part price only, as expected, but they gave me a couple of very helpful tips. To the guy that had the bad experience with paint. Go directly to the Manager, let him know.
