Let a proffesional work on the speedo/tach lights, any shop that specializes in speedo repair can do this mod. Have a guy that fixes instrument clusters for our shop do mine in Amber, got the 4 other guage lights from superbrightleds.com. Best part is the local speedo repair shop only charged me $100 to do the speedo/tach, can't beat $50 a piece!

The LED's won't be to bright, they look as if they are dimmed, well mine do anyhow, don't like them real bright myself.

How hard is it to replace them. is it best to take the front of the fairing off?

Yes, you have to remove the fairing. The 2" gauges have removable bulbs, simply twist the holder and they come out of the gauge. Take the old one out, put the new one in, replace the holder. The speedo and tach have bulbs that are soldered in, it's better to send them to someone who is equipped to do this job.

Can't tell you there, no experience with it. You might try Iron Cross Audio and see what they say, I use an aftermarket Sony that has several color options.
