Default How hot is hot???

I left work today and pulled the bike cover off of the bike, started it and there was no music, "iPod not Responding" the stereo was telling me. I have an old iPhone 3G that I leave connected to the Harley iPod interface and that phone was already at a temp warning before I even started the bike.

I plugged in my normal iPhone and went down the road, after 5 minutes that one stopped responding. It also gave a thermal warning and was not responding.

I switched over to the CD player (thinking that maybe I should not leave a CD in the radio of fear of it melting in there) and within 15 minutes my J&M Amp shutdown due to the heat and I got to ride the rest of the way home with no tunes at all.

I got home and the house was at 82 degrees which normally during the day we have the thermostat programmed to 80.... so now the house air conditioner can't even keep the house cool from the temps. And after 4 hours at home, the temp in the house has only dropped 2 degrees with the air running non-stop and the sun going down.

The useless Harley gauge was pegged at 120 degrees but weather.com says otherwise.... still damn hotter it seemed than any thermometer read.

I'm just more worried about the house air conditioner than anything else. I don't need to come home from work and see the dogs heat stressed.

i had been riding for 5 hours the other day. the tv said it was 97, the thermometer on the bike said it was 111.. i was standing in line at a boat shop, my phone rang.. i couldn't answer it because the touch screen was too hot. couldnt pick up the heat from my fingers.. i had to hold the phone in front of a fan for a few minutes before i could slide the lock bar on the screen and call my brother back.

Where are you at Tiki??? lol

I just spent the day riding from Camp Verde, AZ to San Diego County in 114* heat. Temps like that just wears you down after awhile! From Phoenix to Yuma it was like a blast furnace. No problems with the bike though, but I sure got baked.

My air temp guage is usually reading 10-15 degrees warmer than reality. My fuel guage sucks too. It must be one of the features of a Harley they leave out of the brochure.

did a benefit last sat. the temp was 107* a guy come rolling in and had a round outside temp gauge rigged to the bottom of his crash bars, and it was well pass 120* he said the last 20 miles of his ride getting there was on new asphalt, and when he hit it, he said it felt like the gates to hell opened. man that's hot!! he said. he took it of and set it on the seat and it didn't move for 20 min or so.

I think a lot of heat radiates up from the pavement and the air around the bike may be hotter than stated by the weather report. The definition of hotter than hell would be a 100+ degree day, sitting still in traffic with the addition of the engine's heat. Makes me sweat just thinking about it!!

My temp gauge on the Ultra Classic and my Jeep Wrangler both read 5-15 degrees hotter than the actual air temp. SJ Ron

I agree it's HOT, but so far it's 10 degrees cooler this summer than it was last summer in Texas.
