I have a Zumo 550...the Garmin version, not the Road Tech version. I know that by buying the HD interface kit you can have the Road Tech version interface with the HK stereo and have the GPS interrupt music and such when it gives voice directions, etc. Short of going out and spending $600 on a Road Tech GPS and interface unit, is there any other way of making a straight Garmin unit do the same thing short of just plugging into the AUX port? I use the stock communication system on my Ultra so no bluetooth and would prefer to stay that way.
J&M Corp sells an interface unit called CFRG which installs under the fairing, connects up your Zumo, and gives you the ability to hear all Zumo prompts via your headset when plugged in. Will not play from the speakers, only from the headset jack. Less than $400.
I'm really not clear on what you are trying to accomplish but have 3 suggestions.
1. Perhaps someone on here will better understand what you are looking to do.
2. Call Garmin.
3. Join www.zumoforums.com. If you can't learn what you need there it can't be learned.
What i want is to be able to hear the Garmin voice promps through the stereo speakers or headset while still listening to the radio or CB. My understanding is that the HD interface unit will do this but only with a Road Tech device, not with the straight Garmin device, so i was looking for alternatives.

Gotcha. Then I highly recommend the zumo forum. There may be a software install available. That is how I was able to get all the North American Harley dealerships on my zumo 660.
I have a zumo 550. All of my music is on an sd card in the zumo. I have the zumo connected with a cable to the aux port on the stereo. I play my musice from the zumo and it does mute the music to give audio directions and then goes back to playing music.
It would be great if it workded the same while listening to the fm radio, but I haven't found a way to do that yet.
