You have a great looking bike - it should get compliments.

Not in my experience. Guys just see it as another black Harley. Chicks, however, dig it. They say it loks like all sorts of stuff - black panther, stallion, etc. You get the picture. My bike has been described as "beautiful" by a number of very attractive women. 'Course, I was sitting on it and it was the only bike around.

To me there is no substitute. When my bike is clean and shiny I don't think there's a better looking bike and I have received many compliments on it. Yes - it's personal preference and yeah, when you are parked next to a hundred other black ones it disappears and the colored one stands out > kind of like an ugly chick at a beauty contest.

PS - my bike is far from stock but only the very knowledgeable would know. All mods were done for performance and ergos - no chrome doo-dads.

Susans (the GF) Heritage gets the attention too. I keep telling her it's not the bike. She saw one in this color before she even said she wanted to ride, said "If I ever get my own, thats what color I want...."

An untrained eye wouldn't know what's, what.

HD's are good looking bikes, period.

RK's are pretty bitches. I am surprised, you are surprised. Did you think of it as ugly when you laid down G's upon G's?

Yep, since the day I rolled it off the showroom floor. And mine is basic black. I've added a few things, chrome fork wind deflectors, chrome passenger floorboard covers, chrome voltage regulator cover, chrome/rubber grips, chrome/rubber brake pad and shift pads, rear turn/stop/running light kit, and a Kruser Kaddy cup holder. But all of those are fairly recent add-ons. On one trip to San Angelo Texas last fall, a guy in a pick-up truck even pulled in off the street while we were gassing up and started complimenting the bike. At another stop, two little old ladies walked up to us and started talking about it.

That was the trip where the wife finally realized that "it's not just a motorcycle".

Stock is often beautiful enough, but not an endpoint. A long-time friend once told me that stock is much like an artists palette waiting for each of us to create our own interpretation. My bike was a source of many compliments stock, but its grown into my own image of a Road King and means more to me now. To the OP, -love the paint on your bike...and worthy of many more compliments!
Ride safe..stay thirsty.

They're beautiful bikes from the get-go. Someone pulled up next to my bike and thought the stock Black Pearl was a custom paint job and asked who did the paint. When she is shined up and it's sunny, those candy flakes are outstanding!
