I'm looking to buy a ultra classic in the next 3 days. My problem is I have a 03 ultra with 22,000 mi and with a transferable warranty for 13,800 with a few extras but not much. And I have also found a 05 ultra with 18,000 mi and no warranty and about the same extras for 11,500. Can someone tell me what the difference maybe? This will be my first newer model bike. The 03 is of course the 100 year ann that is painted the gun meatel blue pearl and the 05 is the peace officer edition with the two tone blue paint scheme
Sounds like the '03 seller is banking on his transferable warranty and maybe the 100th Anniversary badging. As another post mentioned, anniversary models doesn't do much other than bragging rights. The only time I see any up pricing on such offerings is if they are limited production. Even then, it really comes down to how much a buyer is willing to pay. The '05 sounds like a better deal, price wise. I always go for something newer. In the world of manufacturing, there is a catch phrase "continues improvement" and such even if the model year offering looks similar to the year before, something in the design and manufacturing were improved for the newer build. Good luck.
