Thanks, to everyone that looked at or responded to my pervious post. I will be ordering my dragonfly fairing within 2 weeks. As suggested by a forum sponsor, I found a local painter that would paint my fairing and will put the anniversary stripe on it. I will get a stripe from killer-decals.com. I am doing my own stereo. Are there any other recommendations from fellow dragonfly owners, on what to get or not get from them? Also can I ask what speakers are you running. They say 3 1/16" deep but I also see focal cvx's as an upgrade and advertised depth is 3.5" on them so how deep can I go? I am planning on running an amp like an ARC or R.F. but would like to find some speakers to match too. I stopped at bestbuy but they have a crappy selection and horrible customer service. Doesn't seem to be anywhere you can go to listen to a bunch of speakers, till you find the ones that are sweet to your ears. I would like nice, clean, clear & crisp sounding, with some low tones. As always Thanks for your replies.
Thanks Angelrod. I did see the SR95 on line. 25 yrs ago they were a great brand. I was thinking of the Polk mm691. I have seen in our forums other members have used focal, hertz, etc. I wanted opinions on speakers since our members are using them in the same environment as I would. Since audio store have vanished, it's hard to listen to them. I would have to make my decision based on what I find on the internet. Thanks Bob
Great question Bob. I went onto Crutchfield.com and I couldn't find a 6x9 marine grade speaker that is that shallow. I am also wondering if others are using non-marine speakers.
I have the Hertz HCX690's, you have to remove the rubber boot from the magnent to button up the fairing. 130 watts continous. The sound much better than the Polk 6x9's in the saddle bags
Thanks ericl. That's what I'm looking for. I also was looking at the focals since that was an upgrade choice. I think I'm going to run a arc amp but I'm wondering if the bx version would be a better choice. I wonder which sounds better Hertz or Focals, of course I know everybody's ears are different. Where did you get your Hertz? I've only found them on fleabay. thanks bob
Just a quick note I have installed a Sony head unit,Rockford Fosgate amp and Fosgate 6x9 speakers in two aftermarket fairings and both systems have sounded great. 6x9 will give you good bass and I believe that the RF speakers will stand up to the rain if you keep moving and then cover up.I have not had an issue. The Sony unit has an internal Ipod tray and is now as low as $85
