Will an A/C Delco oil filter wrench fit the grooves on a HD filter? I'll prob use the K&N filter next.

Wish Mobil1 make oil filters for HD. My oil analysis on my truck when using the Mobil1 filters are exemplary!

I have the Harley oil filter catcher...... another waste of money.... I like the frezzer bag and the tin foil ideas! Thanks!
I also have the harley oil catcher. I found the trick to it. Put the oil catcher in place then slowly loosen the filter until the oil starts to flow then loosen a little more very slowly. This way the oil does not flow over the oil catcher. Works every time for me.

You know, I'm guessing K&N has a patent on their oil filters with nuts on the end, or else everyone else would have copied it by now.

Such a simple idea that works great- easy to remove and it even allows you to torque the filter to the specs they give you (2 nm I believe) which I like because once I tried to just hand tighten it and it ended up being too loose because it leaked.

Default Oil Change Headache, Never

Well on My Scooter ('75 FXE), I opted for the Custom Oil Filter (CCI-Chevy Type/Chrome of Course) that is Mounted from The Front Lower side of the Engine Mount. (an Added Benefit to this Location is as a Secondary Oil Cooler)
When I change Oil it is Easy: I slide a Pan Under the Filter, Remove the Filter, Drain, Install a New Filter, add New Oil, and I'm off for a Putt...
I added a Magnetized Oil Drain Plug on my Oil Tank, and about every 3-4 Oil Changes I get a Small Dixie Cup, Remove the Plug, and Look for any Metal, Clean, & Re-Install, Piece of Cake
...
On My Dresser ('04 Screaming Eagle): I installed a Wing-Style Valve in Place of the Oil Tank Drain Plug, attached some Tubing, & ran it down to the Under side of the Bike, and Once again the Old Drain Pan, slide it under, fill it, shut off the Valve, slide it out, add Fresh Oil, Back on the Road Again
...

For a "Stupid oil change question" this thread was actually a good read of technique and opinion.

I actually use the filter wrench to tighten the filter. By hand turn the filter until it just touches, back off 1/2-3/4 turn, install the filter wrench, and turn 1 turn. That gives the filter 1/4-1/2 turn after gasket contact. I still spill some oil when removing filter. Will try the 2 liter jug at the 20K.
