Default Newer style Street/Road Glide seat vs. Corbin solo?

I have the newer (2011+) style Street Glide/Road Glide seat on my Electra Glide but want something a touch lower. I was thinking of getting a Corbin solo classic with backrest but was wondering how it compares. Anyone switch from newer SG seat to Corbin solo? Classic Solo standard model vs. close model? Please try to be as specific as possible.

Thanks!

No one has compared a Corbin Classic solo to the newer style Street Glide seat?

I can tell you the Corbin Classic Solo is a seat I really wanted to buy but just couldn't bring myself to it because of others issues with customer service.Their standard solo measures 16' from the tip of the nose to the top of the back. That measurement is the same as a stock Ultra seat. The close model moves you 2 inches forward. The close would be good for a woman or a man with a short inseam say 29' or less. I might ad my final decision was to order the C&C Solo because of their reputation for excellent customer service.

+1. I too considered a Corbin seat at one time. They even have a shop close by but customer service turned me away. I have a 2012 and when I asked Corbin for a particular fitment, I was told, "fits 2011 and older" but I asked, "well the 2011 should be identical to the 2012." The answer I got was BS, "well we haven't tested it yet on the 2012, so cannot say if it will work or not." I took my money someplace else and spent it like I stole it.

gtrplyr,

Before you spend hundreds on a saddle you might not like I recommend you call Allen at Mean City Cycles (MMC)

Info here:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/vendo...-seat-mod.html

MCC takes your stock saddle and works it to make it fit you.

Heres my story. 2005 Road King Classic and could not get comfortable in the stock saddle. I bought the HD touring saddle and that didn't help. I called Allen at MCC and told him I needed to be lower and farther back. "No problem", and, he removed the crap foam in the stock saddles and added closed cell foam (can you say Tempur Pedic saddle?).

Later that year I did a cross country ride and on one day rode 872 miles straight with only food, fuel, and bio breaks. The MCC saddle allowed me to complete the day and the cross country ride.

I'd recommend you investigate and see if modifying your existing saddle may be an option to consider.

I have had a Corbin on every bike I have owned since 1995, but decided to get by with the stock seat on the new Limited. I rode it for 3,000 miles and even had the seat redone with gel. Rode from Bloomfield, NM to Las Vegas, NV. 520 miles and then to Laughlin. First place I went in Laughlin was to the Corbin booth and got a new seat for the trip home.

Have taken acouple of 1,500 mile trips and am very satisfied.

Don't know about customer service issues as I have never had any, and all the seats I have had have not needed anything that would create a customer service issue. All the dealings I have had with Corbin have been positive, except I couldn't talk them down past a 20% discount.

The Classic Solo and the new stock SG seat is pretty much the same as far as ride height goes. As far as comfort goes, Corbin is hands down the winner and by a large margin. I also had a customer service issue with my seat, and could not be more pleased with how Corbin handled my issue. (and believe me, I would be the first one to bitch). Corbin seats are top notch.

CWO USN:

Even if they believe it would fit (and we all know it should) until they personally fit a seat to a 2012, they won't say it fits. Nor would any other company of that size. Too much liability, should something small make the seat not fit.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Not sure if I want to purchase a Corbin if the ride position is the same as the OEM SG seat... Maybe Mean Custom Cycles would be a better way to go. Decisions, decisions...
